Earth Day at Twin Falls
MULLENS, W.Va. -- The annual Earth Day Celebration at Twin Falls State Park is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20 at Shelter No. 1. Environmental stations are part of the activities and two guided hikes are planned at 10:30 a.m. and again at 1 p.m.
Recycled crafts, water testing and identification of some native spring wildflowers also are part of the learning experience. Activities are open to the public without charge.

CAIRO, W.Va. -- A scrapbooking weekend is planned April 12-14 at North Bend State Park for beginners and those with unfinished projects.
Michelle Mills, of Parkersburg, and Vickie Crawford, of Washington, W.Va., are the instructors. The weekend includes a "scrapbook garage sale" that invites attendees to bring supplies no longer used or needed to sell among each other. Attendees are encouraged to bring any supplies and equipment needed for projects and a small lamp for extra light.
Packages for the weekend include two nights at North Bend State Park Lodge and activities. Meals are not included. Prices are $215 for two people sharing a room; single-occupancy rooms cost $178. Rates for triple and quadruple occupancy and cabin options are available. For all weekend activities only, the price is $50 per person. Registration is required.

Statue of Liberty reopening July Fourth
NEW YORK -- Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and New York Sen. Charles Schumer announced this week that the Statue of Liberty will reopen July 4. Liberty Island was closed Oct. 29 because of Hurricane Sandy.
In anticipation of the reopening, Statue Cruises is expanding its daily Statue of Liberty Harbor Tours with up to 20 departures every day.
Passengers experience the closest possible views of famed New York City landmarks and may even interact with National Park Service Rangers onboard. Sites include the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the National September 11 Memorial, the South Street Seaport, Governors Island and the Brooklyn Bridge, among others. The hour-long tours depart from Battery Park at the foot of Manhattan every 30 minutes, seven days a week.
