Trails Day at Stonewall
WESTON, W.Va. -- Stonewall Resort will celebrate the American Hiking Society's National Trails Day with a six-mile hike, starting at 9 a.m. June 1.
Stonewall Resort general manager Mike Hager said participants may walk, run or bike at their leisure in the noncompetitive event. Nature guides will be present to highlight interesting features along the way. Participants are welcome to bring their dogs on a leash.
"Our trail route requires appropriate hiking footwear, and participants should bring any beverages or snacks they need along the way," Hager said. "We will have a vehicle that will follow the course of the trail and can hold extra water or personal belongings."
There will be a $20 registration fee, which will include a moisture-wicking event T-shirt and a donation to the Stonewall State Park Foundation for future trail maintenance.
While participants can register as late as 8:30 a.m. on June 1, those wishing to ensure a correct T-shirt size should sign up by May 15.
Participants will meet at the parking lot at the end of the cottages, a shuttle will then take registered participants to the starting point. For more information, call Samantha Norris at 304-269-8820 or email snor...@benchmarkmanagement.com.
