Music Hall of Fame

SUTTON, W.Va. -- A garden party at Café Cimino to benefit the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. May 26 at the restaurant, 616 Main St.

The event includes a buffet prepared by Café Cimino and a smorgasbord of West Virginia music.

Performers include Vince Farsetta, Bob Shank, Julie Adams and Josh Barrett, John Lilly and Robert Shafer, Ashley McMillen, Marium Bria, Casey Litz and The Carpenter Ants with special guest Bob "Elvis" Brunner.

Bike for Habitat

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Habitat for Humanity of Nicholas and Webster Counties will hold its fifth annual bike tour June 1 along the Williams River and through the Monongahela National Forest. The ride starts at 5 a.m.

Five routes are offered, from the 15-mile Family Fun Ride to the Top of the World Century Ride, so everyone from the beginner to the most avid cyclist will be accommodated.

Pre-registration will be accepted at www.raceit.com. Registration will be from 5 to 7 p.m. May 31 or the morning of the ride at Camp Caesar Burton Hall. Ride participation costs $50.

Lions for literacy

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston Gold Dome Lions Club is partnering with the Shoney's restaurant on Kanawha Boulevard for a book drive beginning May 28 and continuing through June 22.

Shoney's customers can donate books in a receptacle at the restaurant. The books will be given to local libraries or appropriate charitable facilities, said Jim McMillon, president of the Gold Dome Lions.

He said the Lions internationally are promoting literacy in their communities through a Reading Action Program. Readers of all ages will benefit from the collected books, McMillon said.
