CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Crossroads Men's Shelter needs the following items: shampoo, body wash, deodorant, disposable shavers, laundry detergent and toilet paper. Bring items to the shelter at 503 Leon Sullivan Way between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.
Fibromyalgia poker walk
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Moms on a Mission is holding a poker walk July 13 to raise funds for the prevention and treatment of fibromyalgia, a condition that affects mostly women.
Registration for the walk begins at 8 a.m. with the walk starting at 10 a.m. from the parking lot of the Fifth Avenue Church of God, 200 Fifth Ave., South Charleston. Participants will venture throughout downtown South Charleston, collecting poker cards from the local shops and businesses that are participating.
Participation costs $25 for walkers age 12 and older, and free for walkers younger than 12. To ensure getting a T-shirt on the day of the event, registration must be completed by June 28. Entries submitted after Friday will have shirts shipped to them for no extra charge. Shirts can be ordered for children not paying a registration fee if ordered ahead of time and for $20 each.
