New Deal Festival
ARTHURDALE, W.Va. -- On July 13, the 1930s-themed New Deal Festival celebrates Arthurdale's history as the first New Deal Homestead Community, designed by Eleanor Roosevelt.
Visitors may tour the historic community in a horse-drawn wagon, stop by the antique car and tractor show, see artisan demonstrations and stroll the crafts market. There'll also be food, live music, historical activities for children, hayrides and a farm petting zoo.

Car and bike show
POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. -- The Point Pleasant River Museum will stage its Car and Bike Show July 13 on Main Street.
Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon, and the show is noon until 4 p.m. The registration fee is $10 per vehicle. Trophies will be presented in three classes: vehicles 1984 and older; vehicles 1985 and newer; and motorcycle/motorized.

RICHWOOD, W.Va. -- The 28th annual Scenic Mountain Triathlon takes place July 14 with the entire race -- swimming, biking and running -- in the Monongahela National Forest.
The state's oldest triathlon begins with a 0.5-mile swim in Summit Lake, followed by a 17.1-mile bike ride over 3,988-foot Kennison Mountain to the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center. The race concludes with a 6.2-mile run to and from Cranberry Glades.

SNOWSHOE, W.Va. -- The 22nd annual Fire on the Mountain Chili Cook-off is set for July 19 and 20 at Snowshoe.
