Wild and Whimsical @ Art Emporium Presents
"Wild and Whimsical," works by JP Owens of Charleston will be on exhibit Tuesday through Aug. 10 at Art Emporium.
An artist reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday during Artwalk.
Owens, 35, received a degree in fine art, printmaking, from West Virginia State University after studying printmaking at Marshall University.
According to a news release, Owens is incorporating acrylic and digital imagery to create work that reflects his rural surroundings but often includes an abstracted sense of surrealism. "This twist of reality provides the viewer with a distorted, sometimes humorous glimpse of a typically ordinary scene," the release said.
Art Emporium, 823 Quarrier St., is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
