BRAMWELL, W.Va. -- The Bramwell Theatre Festival will present the musical comedy "Smoke on the Mountain" July 25-28 and Aug. 1-4 at the Bramwell Theatre.
"Smoke on the Mountain" takes place in an Appalachian church during the Great Depression. There's a cast of seven with the audience serving as the congregation. The play presents Saturday-night gospel sings, a popular form of entertainment at the time.

River float trip
RACINE, W.Va. -- Kevin's Lazy River Adventure is a 10.5-mile community float trip from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 27 on the Big Coal River.
Boats will put in at John Slack Park in Racine and take out at Dartmont Park in Ashford, where the Big Coal River Branch of the Coal River Group will have its annual free picnic.

Hot Dog Festival
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- National hot dog month will be celebrated July 27 at the West Virginia Hot Dog Festival at Pullman Square and Third Avenue, Huntington.

Cherry River Festival
RICHWOOD, W.Va. -- The weeklong Cherry River Festival starts July 27 in Richwood.
The celebration, themed "A Salute to the Military," will feature music shows every night and ends with a craft show, antique car show and parade on Aug. 3. Additional activities and attractions include pageants, horseshoe tournament, lumberjack dress-up contest, talent show, carnival rides, pet show, battery-powered motor races, remote-controlled vehicle races, military display, 5K walk/run, cherry pie contest, hot dog eating contest and food.

MARLINTON, W.Va. -- Registration is now open for the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Workshop, set for Sept. 13-15 at Watoga State Park.
