Registration for the race will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Aug. 24 at the resort. The races begin at 10 a.m. The registration fees are $30 for the long course, $20 for the short course, and $15 for the walk; same-day registration will cost an additional $5.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- The Parkersburg Homecoming will take place Aug. 16-18 in Bicentennial Park.
Activities and attractions include national entertainment, dog show, magic show, square dancing, Zumba dancing, antique car show, rubber ducky derby, chess tournament, talent show, parade, fireworks, carnival rides, food vendors, arts and crafts, flea market, petting zoo and a half-marathon.

Folk singer returns
MARLINTON, W.Va. -- Folk singer John McCutcheon returns for his fifth performance at the Pocahontas County Opera House at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17.
McCutcheon plays a dozen different traditional instruments, and his 30 recordings have garnered many honors, including seven Grammy nominations.
Tickets are $10 and available in advance at www.pocahontasoperahouse.org or at the Fourth Avenue Gallery in Marlinton.
Performances at the Opera House are informal, family-friendly and open to all. Children 17 and younger are admitted free. The entrance and main seating are handicap-accessible.
