Best Tailgating in the South
Both WVU and Marshall University were named contenders for the South's best tailgating by Southern Living magazine in its September issue, which will be on newsstands August 23.
There are 15 contenders for the top position. Magazine readers can vote for their favorite online or by smartphone until Sept. 30.
"We're asking readers to decide which school best honors our great tradition of Southern hospitality with the most stylish and spirited spread," said Southern Living Editor-in-Chief Lindsay Bierman.
Readers can vote daily -- and twice on Saturdays -- on southernliving.com/tailgate or via smartphone by scanning the corresponding image in the September issue with the Digimarc Discover app. Voters are entered daily for a chance to win $2,500 toward an ultimate tailgate. Southern Living will crown the winner of "The South's Best Tailgate" at a home game this fall.
Southern Living described WVU's tailgate celebrations as "Coonskin caps and crowds in perpetual John Denver sing-along." As for Marshall, "The Thundering Herd goes big -- and home and away," the magazine said.
