Ski passes for sale
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia ski areas are again offering 2013-14 winter season passes to ski at four resorts.
The four resorts offering a Mountain Pass to ski and snowboard are Canaan Valley and Timberline in Tucker County, Snowshoe in Pocahontas County and Winterplace in Raleigh County.
The Mountain Pass is a booklet of tickets that includes 30 vouchers for skiing or snowboarding at Timberline, Snowshoe, Canaan Valley and Winterplace and 10 vouchers at the state's Nordic areas. Each voucher (140 total) is for one visit (or lift ticket) and can be used anytime during the 2013-14 season.
The pass costs $2,400. "The pass provides a family or company a chance to enjoy the whole state during the winter season," says Terry Pfeiffer, president of Winterplace Ski Resort and the West Virginia Ski Areas Association.

Taste of Lewisburg
LEWISBURG, W.Va. -- Tokens are on sale for Carnegie Hall's 29th Annual Taste of Our Towns, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12 in Lewisburg.
More than 60 vendors are expected to take part in the fundraiser for Carnegie Hall.
Offerings include The General Lewis Inn's pecan pie, The Greenbrier Sporting Club's shrimp and grits, Dutch Haus' filet mignon sandwich, Stuart's Smokehouse ribs and brisket, B. Sweet Confectionery's pancakes and bacon cupcake, Stella's pumpkin roll with caramel sauce and fresh whipped cream, Fujiyama's sushi and Stardust Cafe's lobster soup.
TOOT vendors only accept official TOOT tokens in exchange for tastes. Tokens are $1 each in person the day of the festival in packets of $5, $10 or $20. Tokens can also be purchased in advance online in $20 increments at www.carnegiehallwv.org. To collect pre-purchased tokens, stop by Carnegie Hall with a printed e-receipt or at the Carnegie Hall booth in front of the greenspace in Lewisburg on day of the event.
KINGWOOD, W.Va. -- The Preston County Buckwheat Festival takes place Sept. 26-29 in Kingwood.
In addition to dinners of buckwheat cakes and sausage, the festival will include livestock shows, horse pull, Irish road bowling, lumberjack competition and pet and car shows.

Apple Butter Festival
CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. -- Apple butter will be made and sold Sept. 27 and 28 during the Apple Butter Festival in Chapmanville.

The festival is a yearly gathering of marble collectors and makers of handcrafted marbles from all around the country. There will be marble-making demonstrations, marble auction, children's marble tournament and collectible and vintage marble vendors.

Dragon Boat Festival
POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. -- The Point Pleasant River Museum Dragon Boat Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28 at Krodel Park Lake, Point Pleasant.

ELKINS, W.Va. -- The annual Mountain State Forest Festival starts Sept. 28 and continues through Oct. 6 in Elkins.
