Trio of female artists at The Art Store.
Three female artists from New York, Kansas and Mississippi will be featured at The Art Store from Oct. 12 through Nov. 15. The exhibit features paintings and photographs that use narrative as a central aspect. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 12, a reception will be held to honor the artists.
Caroline Jennings, originally from West Virginia, creates multi-scenic spaces featuring stylized figures. Jennings' works use ordinary objects to symbolize the grander themes of life, death and the passage of time.
Maggie Starcher, also originally from West Virginia, paints in gauzy, jewel-toned layers, creating dreamy scenes in which figures and architectural forms intermingle among lush plant life. Starcher manipulates sense of time, space and memory to develop a visual narrative.
Gretchen Haien's simply composed photographs invite viewers to contemplate the spiritual with photographic images of the most incidental of objects.
