CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County Public Library will offer "Come Write In" open writing times for teens and adults in the meeting rooms of several locations during November. The schedule is:
Main Library: Nov. 5, 12 and 26 (Tuesdays), 5 to 8:30 p.m.
Dunbar Branch Library: Nov. 7, 14 and 21 (Thursdays), 5 to 6 p.m.
Elk Valley Branch Library: Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25 (Mondays), 6 to 7 p.m.
Riverside Public Library: Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25 (Mondays), 5 to 7:30 p.m.
St. Albans Branch Library: Nov. 7, 14 and 21 (Thursdays), 6 to 7 p. m
Meet best-selling author
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Library patrons may bring their lunch and meet Aila Accad, an award-winning speaker, best-selling author and certified wellbeing coach, at 12:10 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Kanawha County Main Library.
In her latest book, "The Call of the Soul," Accad shares simple experiences to help readers hear and heed their soul's calling. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Nitro library closed
NITRO, W.Va. -- The Nitro Public Library will be closed Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.
'Quiet Dell' discussion
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- A discussion about the Harry Powers murders, most recently depicted in the Jayne Anne Phillips novel "Quiet Dell," will take place at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Bridgeport Public Library, 1200 Johnson Ave.
Besides the novel by Phillips, a West Virginia native, Powers' killings also provided the basis for the classic novel by West Virginia author Davis Grubb, "The Night of the Hunter," and have been featured in several other retellings.
