Cranberry flavor boost
Charleston cook and food writer Judy Grigoraci passed on this tip for boosting the flavor of cranberry.
She said the recipes on the bag of fresh cranberries call for water to be the simmering liquid when preparing whole or jellied cranberry sauce.
Instead, she said, switch the liquid to cranberry juice in those recipes, and in any others where the simmering liquid isn't drained off, but stays with the cooked berry. "Cranberry juice could be used instead of water when making cranberry gelatin recipes as well," she noted.Wine tasting Sunday
The Wine Shop will host its annual Thanksgiving Wines tasting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at its shop in Capitol Market.
Guests will taste seven wines to find out which wines to serve at Thanksgiving dinner. Samples of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc. will be served. Cost is $15 per person.
