'Seeds for the Future'
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Mountaineer Montessori School, 308 20th St., will launch a new middle school initiative, "Planting the Seeds for the Future," at 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the school.
Consultants will present the plan to expand the school's curriculum from the sixth through eighth grade, beginning in August.
Head of School Dana Gilliland said #GivingTuesday, on Dec. 3, is the perfect opportunity to outline the plan because community service has been a bedrock of Mountaineer Montessori School since it was founded in 1976.
"Starting in the primary grades, students develop responsibility and contribute to the well-being of their classroom, environment and the larger world," Gilliland said in a news release.
In recent weeks, students launched a food drive for Manna Meal, participated as weekly "reading buddies" to Piedmont Elementary kindergarten students, baked dog biscuits for the Kanawha/Charleston Humane Association and created custom cards for residents of the Heartland of Charleston Nursing Home.
For information or to make a donation to Mountaineer Montessori School's Planting the Seeds for the Future campaign, call 304-342-7870 or visit www.mountaineermontessori.org.
