Call for artists
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Gallery Eleven, 1025 Quarrier St., invites local artists to submit works for the "Crazy 8's" small-works show that will be exhibited Jan. 11 through Feb. 22, 2014.
Participants may submit works in any medium with a maximum size of 8 by 8 inches. The entry fee is $5 and there will be no judging; entries will be accepted between Dec. 26 and Jan. 7. All artwork must be ready to hang and labeled on the back (upper left) with name, address, telephone number, title of the work and medium. All art will be hung at the discretion of the gallery. Works will sell for $88. The gallery will retain 30 percent of all sales.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The State Historic Preservation Office of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History has published "Historic Recreation," a 13-month calendar highlighting the Mountain State's sports and recreation opportunities, including historic football fields and basketball courts, hunting and fishing lodges, swimming pools and golf courses.
The public may request a copy of the free calendar while supplies last. Each month, the calendar focuses on a different historic building, camp, state park, trail or structure in West Virginia.
