CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Don't look now, but with Christmas still a not-so-distant memory, another prime gift-giving occasion is on the horizon, this one chock-full of romantic expectations: Valentine's Day.
Every once in a great while, Feb. 14 reaches something close to the sky-high standards we've all seen in movies: at least a dozen red roses, someone tall, dark and handsome with a modern-day chariot, a candlelight dinner and a dreamy look as the scene fades to black.
More often, reality falls short.
We'd like to hear your Valentine's memories, both memorably wonderful and unforgettably horrible.
Email your stories and any high-resolution photos to soc...@wvgazette.com with the subject line Valentine's Day. Include your name and phone number as well as contact information for anyone you directly identify in the story.
The deadline for submissions is Feb. 3.
