Philosophy: Design for the home should always be functional.
Favorite trick: Good design goes with good design, so feel free to mix and match.
Designer: Holley Price, Holley Price Interiors
Background: Holley holds a bachelor's degree in art from Queens University in Charlotte, N.C., and has been an interior designer in Charleston for the past 15 years.
First business: Shoestring Designs, helping young couples decorate their first homes on a "shoestring budget."
Design philosophy: "I grew up with a father who was constantly building and remodeling spaces in our home, so I learned from an early age to come up with creative alternatives to construction problems. I oversee everything from new construction to helping a client with paint color and fabric, choosing cabinetry and tile, or simply rearranging furniture. My purpose is to make their living space their own."
Favorite go-to item: "Changing pillow covers for your sofa with the seasons. I love to have bright spring/summer patterns and cozy tones for the fall/winter months. It's an inexpensive way to really change up the look of a room."
Designer: Elizabeth Yeager Cross, Yeager Design & Interiors
Background: Elizabeth Yeager Cross has a business degree from Virginia Tech and a degree in interior architecture from the University of Charleston. She developed a passion for commercial design while working with Carolina Business Interiors in Charlotte, N.C., and later began designing kitchens and baths for homes all over the Tri-State area during her time with Kitchens by Woody's in Barboursville.
About those kitchens: Kitchen design is so much more personal than you would think. After all, the kitchen is the heart of your home. It's where you nurture your family, entertain, and it truly serves as the most multifunction space in your home. It has to look effortlessly and classically stylish and, most of all, work efficiently for you and your family's needs.
Today: After the arrival of her first child, George, now 2, Elizabeth launched her own design firm, Yeager Design & Interiors in Scott Depot, where she and her staff offer design consultation services for commercial and residential sites, kitchens, baths, lighting, flooring, space planning and outdoor/landscape design as well as staging homes for sale.
Philosophy: "My goal is to transform every space I design into a fun, fabulous and affordable work of art. That's true whether you're looking for help from A to Z or just want a fresh accessory to spice up your space."
