Frazier and Lowe will prepare some of the food at Wellington's and will work with Saint George volunteers to cook the rest on site. Tom and Bobbie Grant will help.
"We'll have turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, yams, salads, and we're adding a squash casserole of butternut and acorn squash with black walnuts," Frazier said. "We'll have all the trimmings and desserts."
Frazier and Lowe give their culinary expertise and time and rely on food donations from vendors such as Sysco and Corey Brothers. Greg Wagner, a sales associate for Sysco, has personally donated about $300 worth of Sysco food products for the past 12 years.
"We get a tremendous amount of donations, but Greg provides us with supplies from his own pocket," Frazier said.
Tickets are 60 percent tax deductible. Sojourner's Shelter provides emergency shelter, education, job training and counseling for homeless women and families. Last year, Sojourner's provided more than 81,000 meals to 1,019 individuals, including 309 children.
The lunch menu at Wellington's Café features comfort food daily specials in addition to sandwiches, soups, burgers and salads. Sandwich staples like Philly steak, Reubens and grilled cheese join an open-face crab melt made with lump crab meat. Lowe offers a rotating selection of homemade soups including broccoli cheese, pepper pot, chicken and rice, potato, vegetable and vegetable beef and tomato bisque.
The bulk of their business is catering and delivery. Frazier and Lowe enjoy a slower pace than they did when Wellington's in Poca offered dinner, but say they sometimes miss the chaos and challenge of serving an evening meal in an elegant setting.
Frazier was bemused to hear that a humble offering at his new establishment was receiving attention.
"Someone told me that our hot dog got a great rating on the West Virginia Hot Dog Blog," Frazier said. "We do have a good hot dog."
