Sustainable Fair

 The Sustainable Families Preparedness Fair, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 15, will feature several food and cooking related topics, including food storage and canning methods and alternative cooking methods and a sampling of reconstituted long-term storage foods.

Admission is free. The fair will be held in Habitat for Humanity's Homeowner Education and Community Center, 815 Court St. 

Men Who Cook

The West Virginia Institute for Spirituality presents the event from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 E. St. in South Charleston. The event features tastes of food prepared by men, including Gazette reporter Rick Steelhammer. Tickets are $20 per person, or $35 per couple. All proceeds will go toward reducing the mortgage at the West Virginia Institute for Spirituality offices. Visit wvinstituteforspirituality.org or call 207-256-8624.
