W.Va.'s best ice cream treat
Morgantown's Café Bacchus and its chef, Heath Finnell, have been recognized by Food Network Magazine for concocting one the nation's best ice cream desserts. The fourth annual Old Time Bean Stringin' at Capitol Market takes place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 20 under the center court roof with live music. The green beans prepared at this event go directly to the Manna Meal Soup Kitchen, where an afternoon crew will blanch and freeze them for the winter months ahead. All food donated at this event goes directly to feed the hungry through the Manna Meal Soup Kitchen at St John's Episcopal Church at the corner of Quarrier Street and Leon Sullivan Way. More wine-worthy eateries
Last week, there was a note about Savannah's in Huntington receiving an award of excellence from Wine Spectator magazine. Eight other West Virginia restaurants also were also on the magazine's 2013 Restaurant wine List Awards.
In Charleston, Bridge Road Bistro, The Chop House and Laury's Restaurant were recognized.
Others were the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, Final Cut Steakhouse in Charles Town, Provence Market in Bridgeport, Sargasso in Morgantown and Spats in the Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg.
