CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- East End Community Garden Volunteer Day will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Volunteers are needed in the vacant lots in the middle of the 1500 block of Washington Street (near Dollar General) to help build raised garden plots. Bring work gloves, shovels, cordless drills and screwdrivers, buckets and mattocks.

Community members can start signing up to lease a plot Sunday as well. There will be 15 plots available for an annual lease payment of $30 each.
