Shopping benefit

PINCH, W.Va. -- More than 20 vendors will offer a wide selection of jewelry, home party goods, foods, purses, hand-crafted items and more at the "Shop Till You Drop" sale Nov. 10.

The sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, Pinch, near Indian Creek Fishing Lake, and is sponsored by the GFWC Elk Valley Woman's Club.

Seasonal cards benefiting the Kids Cancer Fund at WVU Children's Hospital in Morgantown will be sold. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Manna Meal needs

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston's oldest and largest soup kitchen, Manna Meal, needs church, school, civic and other groups to organize food, hat and glove drives. Manna Meal will help groups plan and organize the drives.

Items most needed are canned meats -- Spam/Treet, tuna, chicken, Vienna sausages, potted meat, salmon, clams, oysters, ham, -- canned fruits with flip-top lids, men's gloves, men's hats and men's wool socks.

Items may be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., or call ahead, seven days a week at St. John's Episcopal Church's kitchen door, off the back alley.

Huntington's group

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Huntington's disease support group will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 10 at Saint Francis Hospital. Comedy for Alzheimer's

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The National Comedy Theatre, from New York, will perform Nov. 10 at the Charleston Light Opera Guild Theater in a benefit for the West Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a cash bar and ticket auction, followed at 7 p.m. with improvisational comedians performing a series of games and scenes based on audience suggestions. The show is appropriate for all ages.

Tickets are $20 a person or $75 for two tickets, premium seating and open bar. The Guild Theater is at 411 Tennessee Ave.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Angel's Perch, a feature film being produced in partnership with the West Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
