CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Holiday Inn & Suites Charleston West is sponsoring "Holiday in Pink," a free breast cancer awareness event from 5 to 8 p.m. April 23 at the hotel in South Charleston.
The evening includes entertainment, health-related vendors and pampering-related vendors. Free food and beverages are provided by the hotel as well as goodie bags for the first 200 guests. There will be door prizes and a silent auction.
Susan G. Komen also uses the event as a registration site and an individual packet pickup location for the May 4 Race for the Cure.

Items can be brought to the shelter at 503 Leon Sullivan Way anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Yard sale, health fair
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A yard sale and health fair will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20 at the HospiceCare parking lot, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W. In case of rain, the event will take place April 27.
Free health screenings will include HGB, ALC and cholesterol panels and blood pressure. A notary will be available to sign advance directives, and there will be a prescription drug take-back program (nonnarcotic only).
Volunteers will grill hot dogs for sale.
