'Night at the Races'
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center's eighth annual Kentucky Derby event begins at 5:30 p.m. May 4 at the Charleston Civic Center and continues with the Production Company playing for a post-race dance.
"Night at the Races" is a fundraiser for the Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center and is presented by Chapman Technical Group and co-hosted by Jim Strawn and Coach Kidd, from Electric 102.7.
Guests may view live Kentucky Derby feeds, horse betting, a spread of traditional derby food with signature drinks, drafts, auctions and more.
Prizes will be awarded for Monte Carlo-themed "funny money" table winners and for Best Hat and Best Tie. A live auction will take place at the end of the evening.

Benefit trail ride
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- An open benefit trail ride will take place May 11 at Camp Virgil Tate, between Sissonville and Cross Lanes.
Sponsored by the Southern District 4-H Horse Camp, all proceeds will go to Camp Virgil Tate 4-H Barn Fund. Barn stalls will be available for breaks, and concessions and a poker run will be offered.
