Holiday support group
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- HospiceCare is holding a six-week holiday grief support group through the Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas seasons for its patients' loved ones, as well as for people in the community.
The holiday support group will meet weekly from 2 to 4 p.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays from Nov. 12 through Dec. 17 at the Wallace Center at HospiceCare's main office, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W.
The only requirement is that participants commit to the full six weeks to get the maximum benefit.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Huntington's disease support group meets from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month at Saint Francis Hospital. The next meeting is Nov. 9.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Lynn Meyer, of the Charleston Chapter of Hadassah, has received the annual Hadassah National Leadership Award, which honors members whose leadership accomplishments reflect Hadassah's dedication to the principles of the volunteer ethic. Meyer joins 14 area women who have received the award since its establishment in 1987.
A Baltimore native and longtime Charleston resident, Meyer and her husband, Stephen, a Charleston lawyer, are the key players in the Simon Meyer Reunions, which emphasize Jewish education in Charleston. She recently was chairwoman of Hadassah's Taste of Jewish Cuisine and will assume the chapter presidency in January.
