By now, husband was expecting the calls as they came. "We really need to put something in the ground where those oaks were, and there are so many roots, and we have the backhoe already here ..." This one was easy, as he's a big fan of evergreens, so nine new spruces were delivered by the aforementioned dump truck, and the backhoe made short work of hole-digging. Again, thanks all around from the free-labor teens.

So we now know the real meaning of "winds of change" around here. While an important landmark is gone from our yard, our spring garden season is off to a fast start. Somehow not doing all of the work themselves has helped the teenagers around here cope with the loss. Maybe they will go together with their dad and get me that Bobcat.

'A Tree House'

by Shel Silverstein

A tree house, a free house,

A secret you and me house,

A high up in the leafy branches

Cozy as can be house.

A street house, a neat house,

Be sure and wipe your feet house

Is not my kind of house at all

Let's go live in a tree house.
