SPENCER -- The 59th Annual West Virginia Black Walnut Festival is slated to kick off Oct. 10 in downtown Spencer.
The four-day festival features live music, a craft show, carnival, kids' day parade, grand parade, agriculture/4-H/FFA and flower show exhibit, quilt show, Black Walnut baking contest, ox roast, 5-K Nut Run/Walk, art and photo show, flea market, a car show and more.

Hatfield-McCoy National Trailfest
GILBERT -- The Hatfield-McCoy National Trailfest runs Oct. 10 through Oct. 14 in Gilbert, featuring ATV, UTV and dirt bike riding events.
In addition to trail riding, Trailfest will offer poker run and dice run, costume parade, casino games and auction, dirt bike stunt shows, drag strip, mud pit, kids mini motocross track, fireworks display, factory demo rides of upcoming product releases, and new activities for children.
Most Trailfest packages include catered meals, T-shirt and raffles for more than $2,000 in cash and prizes. This year, Trailfest will feature a chance for participants to be on Dirt Trax Television, which airs on the Outdoor Channel.

Lumberjackin' Bluegrassin' Jamboree
MULLENS -- The Lumberjackin' Bluegrassin' Jamboree Oct. 11 through Oct. 13 at Twin Falls Resort State Park is an annual event highlighting woodsmen competition and demonstrations Saturday.
Other family-oriented activities include clogging, bluegrass, hayrides, food and crafts, and much more. Activities begin with stories at 6 p.m. Friday at the campfire ring.

Oktoberfest in Bramwell
BRAMWELL -- The Bramwell Oktoberfest from 2 to 8 p.m. Oct. 12 is known for its live musical entertainment with traditional folk, blues, bluegrass and alternative artists performing throughout the day.

North Bend's 10-mile hike
CAIRO -- Take the 10-mile hike, starting at 8 a.m. Oct. 12 from shelter No. 3 at North Bend State Park.
A shuttle bus will take hikers into Petroleum, where they will hike back on the trail.
