We want to honor our state's brave servicemen and -women.
Charleston Newspapers will publish photos of state residents who have served or are serving with the military in the United States or overseas. The pictures will be published in the "Honoring Freedom" special section commemorating Charleston's July Fourth celebration.
The response from families and those now serving to our previous "Honoring Freedom" sections has been inspiring. We have published hundreds of pictures of servicemen and -women. We need your support again this year, but we do ask that families send only photos that have not been previously submitted.
Please e-mail photos by Friday, June 13 to: bsaund...@cnpapers.com.
Although e-mail is preferred, photos can be sent by mail and must be received by June 12. Send mail to: Soldier Photos, Charleston Newspapers Metro Department, c/o Bob Saunders, 1001 Virginia St. E., Charleston, WV 25301.
Along with each photo, please include the soldier's name, rank, hometown, military unit and branch. Also include a basic description of the picture, including when and where it was taken (if possible).
"Action" photos taken in the field are encouraged.
Senders should include their name and telephone number and self-addressed stamped envelope if they want their picture returned. Please do not send us your only copy. Charleston Newspapers cannot guarantee the return of a photo.
The "Honoring Freedom" section will be published in the June 29 issue of the Sunday Gazette-Mail.
