Twenty-three West Virginia troops have died during the first five years of Operation Iraqi Freedom:

  • Marine Cpl. William B. Fulks, 23, of Culloden, Cabell County
  • Army Pfc. Richard Hafer, 21, of Nitro, Kanawha County
  • Army Sgt. Matthew D. Hunter, 31, of Valley Grove, Ohio County
  • Marine Cpl. Romulo J. Jimenez II, 21, of Belington, Barbour County
  • Army Sgt. Brian C. Karim, 22, of Talcott, Summers County
  • Army Cpl. Jason N. Marchand, 26, of Greenwood, Doddridge County
  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Otie J. McVey, 53, of Oak Hill, Fayette County
  • Marine Lance Cpl. Bradley L. Parker, 19, of Rachel, Marion County
  • Army Staff Sgt. Stanley B. Reynolds, 37, of Rock, Mercer County
