Woman's Club of Charleston will have its annual spring sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the clubhouse, 1600 Virginia St. E. Items include books, clothing, jewelry, flea market items, home goods, baked items and more. Lunch will be served; eat in or carry out. Call 342-1611 for information.

Putnam County Schools Deve-lopment Screenings will be held Friday at Teays Valley Presbyterian Church, Teays Valley Road. Children 21/2 to 4 years of age will be screened for speech/language, hearing, vision, motor skills, social skills, self-help and cognition. Call 586-0500, ext. 154, to schedule an appointment.

Jackson County Community Educational Outreach Service will have its 32nd annual quilt show and sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Epworth United Methodist Church, corner of North and Church streets in Ripley. Special feature will be "feed sack" quilts. Admission is $2. Door prizes will be awarded.

Putnam County Democratic Executive Committee will sponsor a meet-the-candidates program and spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Eleanor Fire Station, W.Va. 62, across from Fruth Pharmacy. Homemade desserts, 50-50 drawing and door prizes will be featured.

West Virginia Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will sponsor a Deaf Tech Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Charleston Civic Center. Gumbo's Restaurant in Fayetteville will serve Louisiana red beans and rice from 3 to 7 p.m. April 7 as a fundraiser with 100 percent of its proceeds to benefit the Earth Day Committee. The cost for the dinner is $5 (add andouille sausage for an extra $1). An Earth Day Celebration is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 20 at Court Street and Courthouse lawn in Fayetteville. Educational booths and kids activities, music, kids concert, kids crafts and more will be featured.
