Today, 25 local singers will vie to be named the first "Charleston's Teen Idol." The competition kicks off at 1 p.m. in Macy's Court at Charleston Town Center.
The singers, ranging in age from 14 to 23, were selected from the nearly 100 hopefuls who auditioned in three preliminary rounds.

The winner will receive a prize package that includes 10 hours in a Nashville recording studio with a professional backing band, a consultation with a record producer and a shot at a recording contract, among other things. Two just-added prizes are a gig at FestivALL and two free tickets to the Vanessa Hudgens concert at the West Virginia State Fair.
