HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Following a Sunday night murder in Huntington, police have issued an arrest warrant for a man they say is armed and extremely dangerous.
Roger Coleman, 39, is wanted on a first-degree murder charge. Coleman, who has lived in Huntington for about two years, is also wanted by the U.S. Marshal service out of Washington D.C. for a parole violation, said police Lt. Rocky Johnson.
Police said 27-year-old James Patrick Green III died after Coleman shot him once in the face at close range around 7 p.m.
The two men have had an ongoing dispute over the past several weeks, and Green went to Coleman's residence at 1114 9th Avenue to try to end the argument, Johnson said.
"These guys have been bickering back and forth with each other for a while and [Green] went over there to end it," Johnson said.
After the men talked on the front porch, Coleman went inside and Green started to leave, Johnson said. Witnesses told police that Green was walking away when Coleman came back out of the house and shot Green once, Johnson said.
Police say that anyone who sees Coleman should not approach him and should call 911. Anyone with information can also give police anonymous tips by calling 696-4499.
"We think [Coleman] is still in the Huntington area, but we don't know that for sure," Johnson said.
