FUTURE EVENTS

  • The City of Dunbar will sponsor CareFest 2008 Musical Fundraiser from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at Dunbar/Shawnee Park. Singers will be The Spiritual Harmonizers; The Viz-N-Heirs; Jarrett, Tina and Neal White; Tim Bess; Aaron Lee Blues Band; Minnie M. Cobb; Gene Brooks; Jeff Furlow; Cross 52; The Harding Gang; and others. Admission is monetary or non-perishable food items to be donated to local shelters for the needy. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. There will be entertainment for the children, food and beverage vendors.
  • South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena will celebrate its Sixth Annual Community Customer Appreciation Day from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $1 to skate. There will be prizes, special events and more. Sign-ups for Youth Hockey will also be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Ages 5-18 are welcome to join the South Charleston Wild Youth Hockey Team.
  • Speakeasy Singles will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday for a picnic at Shawnee Park, W.Va. 25, Dunbar. Hot dogs and Polish sausage will be served. The cost is $4 for members and $6 for non-members. Bring a side dish or dessert if you wish.
  • Alum Creek Lions Club will hold their annual Arts and Crafts Show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 4. Contact Doris Sharpe at 756-2205 for table reservations.
