FUTURE EVENTS

  • The Kanawha Valley Chapter of Credit Unions will host its 15th Annual Dream Run to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation on Saturday. All proceeds from the run will help fulfill the wishes of children in Southern West Virginia who have been diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. The entry fee is $15. The run will take place in Kanawha State Forest and registration will be held at Shelter No. 9, near the swimming pool. All participants will receive a T-shirt and are eligible for prize drawings after the race. Awards will be given to the top male and female winners, as well as to the top three finishers in each age group.   • Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Rho Master Chapter will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the home of Betty Blair in St. Albans. Luanna Jones will present the program.
  • Literacy West Virginia, the state Department of Education and the Arts, the state Library Commission and Verizon will host a celebration at 1 p.m. Monday at the state Cultural Center. Information on statewide literacy programs for adults and children will be shared. The celebration is in honor of International Literacy Day.
  • West Virginia Board of Education Communications Committee will meet to conduct routine business at 11 a.m. Monday in the Board Conference Room, Capitol Building 6, Room 343, 1900 Kanawha Blvd. E.
  • Central West Virginia Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau will meet at noon Monday at Sleep Inn & Suites Board Room, 15 Goff Crossing Drive, Cross Lanes.
  • Hometown Seniors will offer a new Quilting Class beginning Monday at 100 First Ave., Hometown. The class will meet at 10 a.m. each Monday. The group will also offer Bible study at 9:30 a.m. and choir singing at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays; clogging and exercising at 10 a.m. on Thursdays; bingo at 11 a.m. each Friday; and line dancing at 10 a.m. the second and fourth Fridays of each month.   • American Red Cross will offer a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the State Government Workers Building in the Caperton Training Center Rooms B&C located at 1900 Kanawha Blvd. E. Charleston Donor Center will be open for donations from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at its location, 4501 MacCorkle Ave., Suite 2, Kanawha City. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments will be honored first.
