FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- A Fairmont State University student faces a first-degree murder charge after authorities accused him of running over a Pittsburgh man.
Robert Winning of Montrose is charged in the weekend death of 28-year-old Christopher Williams.
Police say the 19-year-old Winning hit the gas, ran over the curb and drove onto the sidewalk to deliberately hit Williams early Saturday after the victim got out of Winning's car after an argument.
Williams was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Police arrested Winning after a pursuit. He was arraigned in Marion County Magistrate Court and is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
Winning has applied for a court-appointed attorney, but a magistrate clerk says no one has yet been assigned to the case.
