CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Workforce West Virginia says state unemployment fell in August.
The agency reported Monday that unemployment last month dipped to 3.9 percent. That's down from 4.2 percent in July.
August's strong showing was the result of employment gains in construction and natural resources and mining, government, health services and leisure and hospitality sectors.
For the month, there were more than 778,000 West Virginians working, compared with 31,300 unemployed.
The nation's unemployment rate for August was 6.1 percent.
