FUTURE EVENTS
Charleston Area Medical Center is collaborating with West Virginia State Community and Technical College for an associate nursing degree program. CAMC will provide educational assistance that covers degree-related costs for those in the program in exchange for a commitment to work at CAMC upon graduation. An informational session will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, WVU Building auditorium at CAMC Memorial Hospital. Applicants can complete a pre-application before the Oct. 10 deadline. For information, visit www.camc.org and the "Employment" section.
Kanawha Trail Club will meet for the Mary Ingles Interpretive Walk near Winfield at 930 a.m. Saturday. Carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. The walk will feature presenters discussing earlier American Indian life. For information, call 342-8755. Also Saturday, volunteers will cut trails into the hillside, move logs and convert old road into trail at the Ohio River Island Refuge near Williamstown. For information, call 343-8398.
Putnam County Parks and Recreation Commission will present the Living History Drama "Mary Ingles on the Virginia Frontier" Saturday and Sunday at Weiford Settlement in Winfield. The 1-mile drama presentation takes place on the trail where hikers will meet characters from the 1750s to 1780s. Encampment 2008 will feature daily living and exhibits by artisans and craftsmen of the era. Call 562-0518, ext. 3 to make reservations.
Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Business After Hours meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 30 at the new Hurricane branch of City National Bank, 39 Raymond Peak Drive. Business After Hours provides an exclusive setting for Chamber members and their guests to network and cultivate business relationships. The cost is $10 per person. Please RSVP by Friday.
