Children's Home Society of West Virginia will have its second A Walk for Children starting Oct. 11 at the Nicholas County Courthouse, Summersville, to raise awareness of the needs of children in emergency child shelters. The three-day walk, which covers 65 miles, will end at the state Capitol. On Oct. 14, the walkers will gather at the Children's Home Society administrative office on Kanawha Boulevard and make their final symbolic trek to the Capitol, where Gov. West Virginia State University will host a graduate school fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 16 at the WVSU Wilson University Union. Representatives from several universities will speak with students about their graduate program offerings. The fair is open to the public. For information, call 766-3017.
Scouts from Chief Cornstalk District (Pike, Ky.), Logan, Boone and Mingo counties will gather at Camp Chief Logan on Oct. 26 for a weekend of camping and outdoor fun at the Fall Camporee. Boys ages 11-18 who are registered Scouts may participate. For information, call Bill Bryant at 687-0476.
