Palin to visit W.Va. briefly

HUNTINGTON - Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin is making her visit to West Virginia as a candidate, but don't plan on a long visit.

Palin is scheduled to touch down at Tri-State Airport near Huntington today before traveling to a campaign rally in Ohio. The Alaska governor has been a popular draw on the campaign trail for the Republican ticket. Neither the Republican nor the Democratic candidates have spent much time in West Virginia. Palin's running mate, Sen. John McCain, made a similarly brief stop at Tri-State in July before traveling to an Ohio rally.

Obviously Palin's West Virgina supporters aren't too outraged that they are kept from her. I haven't heard them say anything. And, in fact, her national supporters say nothing about her being so overly controlled and out of the mainstream media. They shouldn't worry if that's the reason. The mainstream media is pro McCain/Palin. Who gets more airtime? It sure isn't Obama. He gets minimal coverage.

According to the Parkersburg TV station Palin is expected to stop only for a minute or two in Gallipolis and Marietta while going by car from Huntington to an actual rally in St Clairsville near Wheeling. The campaign won't even tell local party officials where or when she will be passing through. This makes no sense. It's just going to confuse and anger her supporters. Why don't they just fly her directly to Wheeling? Do they think driving through a town passes as a visit? Very strange.
