A poll released today shows Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain with a slight lead over his Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama, in West Virginia.
According to the Insider Advantage/Poll Position poll, 49 percent of the respondents said they would vote for McCain, and 47 percent said they would vote for Obama. The 2 percent difference is within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
One percent of those polled said they would vote for someone else, and 3 percent were undecided.
The poll was conducted on Monday by telephone with 522 likely voters in West Virginia.
Several polls early in the race showed McCain with a lead of several percentage points, but an American Research Group poll earlier this month showed Obama leading McCain.
Obama's running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, told an Ohio crowd on Tuesday that the Democratic ticket would win West Virginia. McCain's running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, flew into Huntington on Sunday on her way to campaign in Ohio.

This is an historic election that no one needs to sit out. Whichever candidate you believe is best qualified for the job, you need to vote for that candidate. Not voting is not an option. Your vote will be a part of history.
Get up out of your seat and run, don't walk, down to the Courthouse and vote early, or, at least make sure you don't miss out on voting on Election Day 2008!
Our nation is at a crossroads, in a crisis. In any crisis, the choice you make can bring judgment or opportunity. The root word for crisis, cross, judgment and opportunity is the same root word for Christ. When you are in a crisis, when you are at a crossroad, when you are at the foot of the Cross, you must make a choice. If you just stand there, you may get run over.
Right. Left. Straight ahead. Judgment or Opportunity?
That's just some straight talk for you my friend.
