Anniversaries/homecomings
The New First Missionary Baptist Church of Kanawha City, 4524 Washington Ave. S.E., will honor the Rev. Ricardo C. Flippin and first lady Jeannie Flippin on their third pastoral anniversary today and Sunday. First Lady Jeannie Flippin Night will be celebrated at 6 p.m. today. Speaker will be Minister Kathie Holland of Metropolitan Baptist Church. The Rev. Ricardo C. Flippin will be honored on Sunday. Minister Donita Flippin of Nashville, Tenn., will speak at the 11 a.m. Sunday service. Speaker at the 3 p.m. Sunday service will be the Rev. Darin G. Freeman Sr., along with his choir and congregation from Metropolitan Baptist Church. Dinner will be served following the morning worship services.
The St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Montgomery, will be celebrating its 85th church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. David Bell and his congregation from Logan will be guests. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.
The 17th year pastor's anniversary service for Dr. Bruce E. Hogan will be held 7 p.m. Friday at All Nations Revival Center. Guest speakers will be Bishop Roy Welch and the Rev. James Patterson. A pastor's Sing On! concert will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 1. The Rev. Pettis of Dayton, Ohio, will be guest speaker at the morning sing on Nov. 2. Bishop Fred Hightower will be guest at the 4 p.m. service Nov. 2 at the church.
Miscellaneous
Abundant Life Ministries, 1534 Washington St. E., will have a Community Harvest Party at 7 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be plenty of free food, fun and games for everyone.
First Baptist Church of Tyler Mountain, Alpine Drive, Cross Lanes, will be holding its Harvest Festival from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Games and a hayride will be featured. Food will be served at 5 p.m. The Twin Hearts Gospel group will sing at 6 p.m. A black light program will follow, presented by Carol Hilleary. For more information, call 776-3591.
Carbondale Baptist Church, Cannelton Hollow Road, Cannelton, will have its BYF Fall Festival from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the church. Games, prizes, free food and giant slide will be featured. Rain date is Nov. 1.
Dunbar Church of the Nazarene, 16th Street and Lightner Ave., will have a Light Up the Night - Safe Halloween Alternative from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the church. The program is for kids ages 12 and under. A maze, haystack mania, games and prizes, cotton candy, cookie decorating, crafts, a trunk-or-treat and more will be featured. No scary costumes or weapons are allowed. Children wearing these types of costumes will not be allowed to participate.
Grace Nazarene Church, 299 Second Ave. South Charleston, will sponsor a Samaritan Purse Benefit Ride on Nov. 2. Sign-up is from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Several different rides will be available to choose from. A $20 donation is requested for each rider, with proceeds to benefit Operation Christmas Child. First 50 people signed up will receive a t-shirt. Rain date is Nov. 9. For questions, call Mike McGinnis at (304) 550-5374.
Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church, 607 Shrewsbury St., will have a Linen Drive-thru Drop-off from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at the church to benefit the Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center. The RSLC is a local non-profit agency, which serves thousands of individuals experiencing homelessness. Items needed are new or gently used washcloths and bath towels (any color). Coffee and donuts will be provided.
Bethel Baptist Church's Youth Group will sponsor a fall costume party-dance at 7 p.m. today in the church activity center. Admission is $2 per person or $3 per couple. Free snacks and drinks will be provided. The music and light show will be presented by Soundsation DJ of Scott Depot. The church is located at 5028 Kentucky St., Spring Hill.
Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle, will sponsor a flea market, hot dog lunch and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1 in the church activity building, Steele street, Dunbar. For information, call 768-3738.
Garrison Avenue Freewill Baptist Church will have its annual hot dog sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 597 Garrison Ave.

The St. Ambrose Choir of St. John's Episcopal Church, Quarrier Street and Leon Sullivan Way, will feature "An Autumn Evensong" at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. Works by Richard Dirksen, Edward Elgar, C. Hubert H. Parry, T. Tertius Noble and Bernard Rose will be featured.
Robin Dye will be singing at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church, located on W.Va. 114 North.
Providence Baptist Church, Rocky Step Road, Scott Depot, will have a gospel sing at 7 p.m. today featuring One Accord. Refreshments will follow the sing.

Red Oak Christian Community Church, Red Oak Drive, Nitro, will have a song and prayer service at 7 p.m. today. Born Again will sing.
An old-fashioned gospel sing will be held at 7 p.m. today at Fisher Memorial Church. The Gospelaires of Parkersburg; New Grace, The New Life Singers and the choir will sing. Refreshments will be served in the Family Center following the sing. The church is located 1/2 mile on Dudden Road of Goldtown exit of Interstate 77.
Scary Creek Church of God will sponsor its annual Scary Creek Benefit Gospel Sing from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 15 at Nitro Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. Soloist Michael Combs will perform along with the Tribute Quartet and 15-year-old Corey Laney. Admission is free; however, a love offering will be taken for a special beneficiary to be announced at a later date. The Nicholas Old Main Foundation will present the 11th annual Thanksgiving Gospel Sing and Open House Fundraiser from 6 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Old Main Building, Old Main Drive, Summersville. The community can visit various museums and the gift shop located inside the building. The Thanksgiving sing will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature The Pomeroys, Mountain Harmony, Gary and Brenda Perrine and Joe Smith. Admission is by donation at the door. Proceeds will go toward the fund to purchase a chair lift for the building.
The Old Time Gospel Quartet will be guest singers at the 7 p.m. Monday night service at Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, in Elkview.
A gospel sing will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at Enon Union Mission Church, Enon, featuring Southern Grace and Joe Mullins.
Royal Hands Quartet will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Independent Baptist Church, Milton.
The Tignors will sing at 7 p.m. today at Hickory Grove Church, Kenna. They will also sing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Powell Creek Church in Madison.
Revivals
