CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A man wanted for murder in New York City for murder was arrested in Morgantown Sunday, according to a news release from the West Virginia State Police.
Yahya Abdul-Aleem was speeding on Interstate 68 and pulled over by State Police Sgt. G.S. Petsko about 1 p.m. Sunday.
Police smelled an odor of marijuana in the vehicle and asked the driver and passenger their names. The passenger identified himself as Jeremiah Martin. Abdul-Aleem gave police two different names, both of which police quickly realized were false. Abdul-Aleem and Martin were both arrested for providing false information to police.
After a FBI fingerprint record search, Abdul-Aleem was identified, according to the release.
Abdul-Aleem was wanted in New York for a murder on Aug. 6, 2006. He was also featured in a story on the TV show "America's Most Wanted." He is being held for local charges and for extradition back to New York City, according to the release.
