CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Shana Cowley was riding in a car with her boyfriend when she somehow fell out of the sport utility vehicle last week.

Lt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department confirmed that Cowley's boyfriend, Timothy Joseph White, 22, of Dunbar, was driving the car when Cowley fell out of the vehicle on Derrick's Creek Road on Oct. 29.

Cowley, 22, died later at CAMC General Hospital as a result of her injuries.

Deputies continue to investigate the accident, Crosier said. "There are a lot of questions left to answer," he said.

Last week, Crosier declined to release the identity of the SUV's driver.

Cowley was homecoming queen, head cheerleader and class president during her time at Sissonville High School.
