Anniversaries The 79th church anniversary service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at The Glorious Church of God in Christ, 412 Wertz Ave. Guest speaker will be Bishop James L. Jones of Beckley.

A hot dog and bake sale will be held at 10 a.m. today at The Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church, located on W.Va. 114 North.
Southridge Church will have a fall bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at the church featuring arts and crafts, baked goods, hot dog sale, candles, sauces, stained glass, jewelry, skin-care products and more. Turn left off the Childress Road Exit on Corridor G South. Call 610-6164 for information.
Bethel Baptist Church of Spring Hill will have a special dinner show at 6 p.m. today in the church activity center. The Essential Element singers of Winfield Baptist Church will perform. A baked steak dinner will be featured. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children. For more information, call 768-7151.
The Oakridge Bible Church will present the Christmas play, "If It's Monday, This Must Be Christmas," written by Pat Cook, at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 and 2 p.m. Nov. 29. Performances will also be held 7 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2, 4 and 5; 2 p.m. on Dec. 6; and at 3 p.m. on Dec. 7. Childcare is not provided. Teen Ministry will meet at 7 p.m. each Thursday at Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, Elkview.
Dunbar First Church of God will have a giant yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 15 in the church activity building, 1234 Payne Ave., Dunbar. A bake sale and hot dog sale will also be held.
Women Worshiping Christ Together will have their 10th annual women's conference beginning 9 a.m. today at the Switzer Center, 900 Griffin Drive, at the entrance of Orchard Manor. Speakers are Evangelist Nannie Loudermilk, Elder Estella Nappier, Minister Annabelle Edwards, Minister Mary Wesley and keynote speaker is Evangelist Karen Hairston. Minister of music is Kathy Booker. Registration for the conference is $10. The theme is "Beauty for Ashes," erasing the past and embracing the future. Anyone who has dealt or is dealing with abuse is encouraged to attend the conference.
The Presbyterian Church of the Covenant will sponsor a Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 27 at the church, located at 2438 U.S. 60, Hurricane. A traditional turkey-with-all-the-trimmings dinner will be served at no charge. Eat in, orders to go and delivery to shut-ins is available. Call 562-2012. The Youth Group of Bethel Baptist Church in Spring Hill will sponsor a 1950s-themed program from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the church, 5028 Kentucky St. The program will feature Soundsations DJ, the movie "Singing in the Rain," games, prizes, hot dogs, hamburgers and popcorn. Admission is $5 per person. There will also be an antique car display. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1950s style.
Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church will have a fall bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at the church. Proceeds will benefit the Mission Circle. Clothing, furniture, food and more will be sold.
The Progressive Missionary Baptist Association and State Convention of West Virginia will convene its Eighth Annual General Session Wednesday through Friday at First Baptist Church, 432 Shrewsbury St. The Session will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Dr. James Perkins preaching. President Franklin Murphy Sr. will deliver the sermon on Thursday evening. The Rev. Dr. C.H. Johnson will deliver the message at the banquet on Friday. A benefit sing and hot dog sale will be held Nov. 22 at Garrison Avenue Freewill Baptist Church, 597 Garrison Ave. The hot dog sale will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. and the sing begins at 6 p.m. Featured groups will be Faithful Journey, Standing True, The New Prophets and others.
Music
The Homeland Southern Gospel Sing will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Community Chapel Church, Big Tyler Road, Cross Lanes.
The Nicholas Old Main Foundation will present the 11th annual Thanksgiving gospel sing and open-house fundraiser from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the Old Main Building, Old Main Drive, Summersville. The community can visit various museums and the gift shop located inside the building. The Thanksgiving sing will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature The Pomeroys, Mountain Harmony, Gary and Brenda Perrine and Joe Smith. Admission is by donation at the door. Proceeds will go toward the fund to purchase a chair lift for the building.
The Loudermilk Family will be singing at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church located on W.Va. 114 North. Oswald Wiley will be bringing the message.
Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene will host the Martin Luther King Jr. Choir at 6 p.m. Sunday.
A gospel sing featuring the Big Coal River Boys and Born Again will be held at 6 p.m. today at Coopers Creek Advent Christian Church. For information, call 965-5105.
Goshen Baptist Church will have a gospel sing at 7 p.m. today at the church. Singers will be Gloryland Believers and The Joneses. The church is located four miles off Interstate 77, Kenna exit in Jackson County on Kentuck Road. Proceeds will be used to pay for the new heating/cooling system.

Three By Grace will sing at 7 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh Independent Church, Steele Ridge, Red House.
The Lordsmen will sing at 7 p.m. today at Bible Baptist Church in Danville. They will also sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Spradling Gospel Tabernacle in Charleston.

The Crowder Family will be the guest singers at the Monday evening service at Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, Elkview.
The Tri-County Singers will have their monthly sing at 7 p.m. today at Bethany Baptist Church, Grant Ave., St. Albans., beside the old Parkway supermarket. The 2008 "Journey" songbook will be used. All singers are invited to participate in the shaped-note, four-part mass choir singing.
The Brighterside Quartet will sing at 7 p.m. today at Faith Baptist Church at Servia. They will also sing at 7 p.m. Sunday at Big Union Church, Dill.
The monthly sings at Elk Community Center will not be held again until March 2009.
Paid in Full Trio will sing at 7 p.m. today at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, Clay County. They will also sing at 730 p.m. Sunday at Cold Springs Tabernacle's revival service in Clay County.
Revival services
Kimberly Church of God will have revival services Sunday through Wednesday at the church. Evangelist John Wishon will speak. Special services
Good Shepherd Free Will Baptist Church will have a praise and worship service on Sunday. Pastor Jason C. Black will be preaching at the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. services. Special singing at 6 p.m. will feature Teresa Jeffries. A prayer meeting begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rev. Daniel Castle will be preaching and youth services also start at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The church is located at 5470 W. Pea Ridge Road, Huntington.
Elder Fred Jones Jr. will have special services beginning 7 p.m. today at Faith Truth Apostolic Church, 1405 Second Ave. Sunday's service will begin at 4 p.m. at the church.
The City of Refuge Church will celebrate the second in a series of Thanksgiving Harvest services at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at their new location, 11719 MacCorkle Ave. S.E., Chesapeake. Pastor Nancy B. Jones will speak along with special performances by the praise team, dance and sign ministry.
The Father Boniface Assembly No. 1188, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will sponsor a special Mass at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral to honor and pray with and for our country's veterans of military service. Principal celebrant will be Father Dennis R. Schuelkens Jr., U.S. Navy. A special honor guard from the 130th Air Lift Wing of the West Virginia and Air National Guard will present colors before the mass. A special ceremony, with an explanation of folding the flag will be held at the end of Mass, followed by the choir honoring veterans with a "Salute to the Troops."
The Deacons and Deaconesses of Levi First Missionary Baptist Church, 5125 Church Drive, Rand, will celebrate their annual Candlelight Service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Darin Freeman, pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church, choir and congregation, will be guests.
The Rev. Matthew Thornhill, Associate Youth Minister of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, will be guest speaker at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Community Missionary Baptist Church, 920 Amity Drive.
Metropolitan Baptist Church will have a Fellowship Service at 6 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Tina Beatty of King of Glory Church will speak. The church will also recognize the November Job Corps graduates that are members of the church. The church will have its Men's Day Service at 11 a.m. Nov. 16 at the church. Guest preacher will be the Rev. James Green of Winston-Salem, N.C.
Ruffner Memorial Presbyterian Church, corner of Greenbrier and Quarrier streets, across from the State Capitol, will feature a special service at 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. Charolette rule White will give a historical review of Ruffner Memorial and other Presbyterian churches in the area who participated in the establishment of the Christian Medical Institute in the Congo. The Institute was founded by White's parents, Dr. Bill and Effie Crane Rule more than 50 years ago. White is raising funds for a chapel that will be called Founders Chapel to be built on the grounds of the Good Shepherd Hospital. A reception will follow the worship service. St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 821 B St., St. Albans, will observe Men's and Women's Day today and Sunday. A gospel concert, featuring the Spiritual Harmonizers of St. Albans, will be held at 6 p.m. today. Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday and the worship service begins at 11 a.m. Sunday. Speaker will be Minister Robin Sherrod. Music will be presented by St. Paul Male Chorus. Dinner will be served following the service. For information, call 727-1742.
