Man charged in Putnam shooting

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police have charged a man with malicious wounding after a shooting outside a Putnam County nightclub.
Michael Messer was arrested Sunday morning for shooting Jerry McCallister outside Sneekers in Teays Valley late Friday night. The West Virginia State Police are investigating the shooting.
Messer is being held at the South Central Regional Jail on one count of malicious wounding, according to a regional jail official.
McCallister remained in fair condition at CAMC General on Sunday evening.
