Anniversaries/homecomings
Christ the King Catholic Church in Dunbar will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the rebuilding of its sanctuary after being destroyed by fire in 1980. The theme is "Rising from the Ashes ... A Journey of Faith." An Ecumenical Vesper service followed by a reception will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the church, located at 1504 Grosscup Ave., Dunbar. A scripture and song service titled "Sing to the Mountains" will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 22 with a reception to follow.
Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church will hold a free brown bean and cornbread dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday in celebration of the church's 92nd anniversary. A community prayer meeting and Bible study will follow at 7 p.m. The Rev. Alton Dillard is pastor.

The Mountain State Baptist Convention of West Virginia Region 3 Women's Auxiliary will have a Mini-Conference from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 205 Donnally St. The theme is "I'm Blessed - So Why Am I Stressed?" Registration is from noon to 1 p.m. Bring a canned good for Thanksgiving. For more information, call Jeannie Flippin at 205-4418.
A giant yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Dunbar First Church of God, Activity Building, 1234 Payne Ave., Dunbar. A bake sale and hot dog sale will also be held.
Enon Union Mission Church will feature a play, "Heaven's Drama" at 6 p.m. today. The play is presented by Lizemores Methodist Church.
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 520 Kanawha Blvd. W., is offering a free film series on the third Friday of the month. The next film will be "State and Main" (2001), a light satirical comedy about the effects the eccentric members of a Hollywood film crew have on the conservative citizens of a small New England town. The film stars William H. Macy, Alec Baldwin, Sarah Jessica Parker and Patti Lupone and is written and directed by David Mamet. Shown with captions for the hearing impaired. The Youth Group of Bethel Baptist Church in Spring Hill will sponsor a 1950s-themed program from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the church activity building, 5028 Kentucky St. The program will feature Soundsations DJ, the movie, "Singing in the Rain," games, prizes, hot dogs, hamburgers and popcorn. Admission is $5 per person. There will also be an antique car display. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1950s style.
Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church is operating a soup kitchen and is providing a free lunch from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays at its location, 607 Shrewsbury St.
Buffalo Church of God will have a bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 22 in the church activities building, W.Va. 62 and Church Street, Buffalo, Putnam County. Homemade candy, crafts, baked goods will be sold. Open-face hot turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, coleslaw, drink and dessert will also be sold for $7. Mount Olive United Methodist Church will have a gospel sing at 6 p.m. today at the church. Groups featured will include the Twin Heart Trio, Dreama Hill, Matt and Debbie Peterman, Visions of Grace and the Lightners. The church is located nine miles from the Milton exit on John's Creek Road, Milton.
Gary and Pam Gillespie will sing at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church, located on W.Va. 114 North.

The Royal Hands Quartet will sing at 7 p.m. today at a song and praise service at Mammoth Advent Christian Church.
The annual Christmas Benefit Gospel Sing will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at Sissonville High School. The sing will be held in the newly renovated auditorium. Featured artists include the Brighterside Quartet, Jimmie McKnight, Frontline Quartet, Charlton Jordan and the Maranatha Men's Quartet. The sing will benefit a food drive for Union Mission Ministries. Bring non-perishable food items to donate. A concession stand will be available.
Johnson Creek Baptist Church, off U.S. 119 near Clendenin, will feature singers Paid in Full at the 7 p.m. Sunday service.
Brighterside Quartet will sing at 7 p.m. Sunday at Hughes Creek Community Church.
Revivals
Big Bottom Baptist at Tad on Campbell's Creek will hold revival services Sunday through Friday at the church. Harvest Sunday will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday with the Rev. T.D. Burgess as the evangelist. Lunch will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the activity building. Evening services will begin at 7 p.m. each evening. Choirs from Mount Pleasant and Teays Valley Baptist churches will sing on Thursday and Friday nights. For more information call 925-8825.
The Happy Valley Boys will sing at revival services at 7 p.m. Friday at Spencer Methodist Church, Hewitt.
Metropolitan Baptist Church Men's Revival will be Sunday through Wednesday. Guest evangelist will be the Rev. Audie Murphy of Logan. The revival will start at 6 p.m. on Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
Special services
Community Missionary Baptist Church, 920 Amity Drive, will have a service at 11 a.m. Sunday with the Rev. Keith A. Tyler, associate youth minister of Grace Bible Church, as guest speaker.
The Charleston Black Ministerial Alliance will have their annual Thanksgiving Day Celebration at 10 a.m. Nov. 27 at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church on Lewis Street. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Roberta Smith, Pastor of Shaffer Chapel A.M.E.
Good Shepherd Free Will Baptist Church will have a praise and worship service on Sunday. The Rev. Ernie Crabtree will be preaching at the 11 a.m. Sunday service and Pastor Jason C. Black will preach at the 6 p.m. Sunday service. Special singing at 6 p.m. will feature forgiven. A prayer meeting begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rev. Joe Dolen will preach and youth services start at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The church is located at 5470 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington.

Metropolitan Baptist Church will have a Men's Day Service at 11 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. James Green of Winston Salem, N.C., will be guest preacher and there will be a deacon ordination for Craig Grooms.
Trinity Lighthouse Baptist Church at 490 South Ruffner Road in Charleston will have a Thanksgiving praise concert at 3 p.m. Sunday with the Spiritual Harmonizers.
