ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- A 15-year-old boy and an 11-year-old accomplice were arrested early Sunday after breaking into a St. Albans gun store.

Someone driving by the St. Albans Gun & Archery gun store on Walnut Street saw someone apparently breaking into the shop about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. James Agee of the St. Albans Police Dept. The driver immediately dialed 911 and Metro dispatchers immediately notified St. Albans police, who sent three officers.

"The response time was two or three minutes," Agee said. Officers arriving at the gun store found a 15-year-old boy climbing out the window and an 11-year-old boy inside.

The 11-year-old had been reported to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department as missing on Saturday. He later admitted to throwing rocks from the top of the Third Street underpass, damaging several cars.

After their arrests, both boys were released to their parents. Criminal charges are pending.

Agee said officers expect to charge the 15-year-old with at least one felony charge of breaking and entering. The 11-year-old faces at least one count of felony breaking and entering and numerous destruction of property charges.

Agee said nothing was taken from the gun store.

"They didn't have time," he said.
