Sierra Club appeals power line permit
Advertiser
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- An environmental group is asking the West Virginia Supreme Court to block construction of a power line that would pass through the state's north central and Eastern Panhandle regions.
The West Virginia Sierra Club filed a petition Friday asking the court to rescind Allegheny Energy's certificate of convenience and necessity to build the high-voltage line from southern Pennsylvania to northern Virginia.
The group claims Allegheny did not prove the line was needed and did not address the environmental impact, including a likely increase in carbon dioxide emissions.
Allegheny Energy Spokesman Allen Staggers said the company will file a response with the court, but for now the Public Service Commission's order stands.Advertisement - Your ad here

All Sierra Club is doing here is appealing a ruling of the state Public Srevice Commission to the state Supreme Court of Appeals- exactly as state law allows. How is that "terrorism"?
Also hdt, what "illegal activities" has Sierra Club ever engaged in?
