WINFIELD -- A Putnam County man who accidentally shot a woman in the face near his home in Pliny has been sued by his insurance company and the woman he shot.
Kelly Peet filed a suit against Darrell Cadie and Farmers and Mechanics Fire and Casualty Insurance on Wednesday.
Farmers and Mechanics also filed a suit against Cadie the same day.
Peet's suit alleges Cadie negligently shot her on April 4, while she was walking her dogs and taking photos of an abandoned log cabin near Honeycutt Road.
Cadie was on Pauline Arthur's property, where he lives and works, when he shot Peet from about 2,000 feet away. Peet was on property adjacent to Arthur's.
Arthur's property is insured by Farmers and Mechanics, which Peet's suit says is liable for damages caused by Cadie while he "was in the course of performing domestic duties that relate to Arthur's insured premises."
Peet asks for compensation for medial expenses, lawyer fees and mental and physical suffering.
In a separate suit filed Wednesday, Farmers and Mechanics Mutual Insurance Co. filed a suit against Arthur and Cadie.

In a separate suit filed Wednesday, Farmers and Mechanics Mutual Insurance Co. filed a suit against Arthur and Cadie.
The suit states Cadie is not named in Arthur's insurance policy and is not insured by the company.
Farmers and Mechanics is "under no duty" to cover or defend Cadie, the suit states.
In April, Cadie told police he thought he was shooting at coyotes when he fired into the woods around 10 a.m. where Peet was taking photos. Peet had been walking with her dogs when the shooting occurred.
Putnam County Sheriff Mark Smith said Friday no charges have been brought against Cadie.
The bullet from Cadie's high-powered rifle shattered Peet's jaw and grazed her voice box and larynx.
After Peet was shot, she walked to Arthur's home. Cadie and Arthur called an ambulance and cared for Peet until medical help arrived, according to the suit filed by Farmers and Mechanics.
Peet spent at least four weeks in St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington and underwent several surgeries for her injuries, in addition to having her jaw wired.
