MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Two engineering graduates have pledged $100,000 to support scholarships for five years at West Virginia University.

Dean and Gina Dubbe named the Everette C. Dubbe Research Scholarship for Dean's late father, who taught electrical engineering at WVU for 34 years.

They said Wednesday they also want to show support for WVU President James Clements, who started work this week.

Clements' background is in computer engineering and information sciences.

The university will seek state matching funds for the gift to the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources through the "Bucks for Brains" program.

It's formally called the West Virginia Research Trust Fund, established by lawmakers to support research and economic development.
